New Publix Coupon Policy

New Publix Coupon Policy

UPDATE: The new Publix Coupon Policy is live and on their site! They’ve updated the FAQ’s section as well, which clarifies some of the questions we had.

After Walgreens and Winn Dixie’s updates to their policies recently, I figured a new Publix Coupon Policy wouldn’t be far behind. In fact I heard rumors of it a few weeks ago, but was waiting until I had a little more confirmation. Our friends over at iHeartPublix received information from a reliable source that the new policy is happening, effective 10/1/14. Actually, they’re giving us a bit of a grace period to get used to it and by 10/18 it will be in full effect!.

To be honest, none of the changes in the new Publix Coupon Policy bother me. I think the “8 Like Coupon” limit is fair.  The update that might change the way some people shop is the “Dollars-off-total-order coupons will be limited to one Publix and one competitor’s coupon per day, per household.” My stores have always followed the first part. Not necessarily the “per household” part, but, again, this is pretty easy to accept. At least we can still use them! The 3rd kind of big change is no more cash back in, well, cash. Any overage due back will only be on a Publix Gift Card. I think some stores were only doing that anyway.

I think We Dodged a Bullet with the New Publix Coupon Policy

All in all, these changes in the new Publix Coupon Policy could have been a lot worse. For instance, Winn Dixie is “5 Like Coupons,” which means in true BOGO areas, you can only do 2 deals & use a coupon on each. At least at Publix, we can still do 4. As I said, the new Publix Coupon Policy starts October 1st, 2014 with the grace period ending on October 18th, so start learning it. It’s also important to note that this is not yet online so it’s subject to change. You may have questions, but until it’s live, and they’ve updated their Facts Section, we may have to wait for clarification on some of it, but I wanted to keep everyone in the loop. As soon as it’s on the website, I’ll let you know.

I’ve highlighted the biggest changes below in red so you can easily see them.

New Publix Coupon Policy

“Publix is committed to helping you save money. We offer weekly specials, buy one get one free promotions, and accept Publix, manufacturers, and competitor coupons. When you add all these together, you can see why customers “Love to Save Here.” So that all of our customers can benefit from these deals, we reserve the right to limit purchase quantities.”

The types of coupons we accept:

Manufacturer’s coupons, Publix coupons, Internet coupons, and coupons from nearby competitors (a list of which are posted at each Publix store).

Coupons from competing pharmacies for prescriptions only.

Our Acceptance Guidelines:

  • Acceptance is subject to any restrictions on the coupon.
  • We only accept coupons for identical items we sell.
  • We only accept a manufacturer’s coupon and either a Publix or a competitor’s coupon on the same item. Maximum of two coupons per item.
  • Manufacturer’s digital offers cannot be combined with manufacturer’s paper coupons on the purchase of the same item.
  • We do not accept percent-off-items or percent-off-total-order coupons.
  • We do not accept coupons that Publix determine to be printed incorrectly. For example, a coupon missing a size requirement or other standard coupon details.
  • We do not accept coupons presented via a mobile phone or device.
  • We do not accept coupons that appear to be compiled. All coupons must be originals.
  • For a buy-one-get-one-free (BOGO) offer, each item is considered a separate purchase.
  • We limit coupon redemption to eight of the same coupons per day, per household.
  • Manager’s approval is needed for individual coupons above $5.
  • Dollars-off-total-order coupons will be limited to one Publix and one competitor’s coupon per day, per household. The total order before coupons must be equal to or greater than the combined purchase requirements indicated on the coupon(s) presented. We consider competitor’s coupons for dollars off groups of items to be a dollars-off-total-order coupon and will only allow one per day, per household.
  • Money due back to the customer at the end of a transaction involving coupons will only be provided on a Publix gift card.
  • Our management teams will only issue rain checks for items which are advertised outside the store at a reduced retail. For example, on radio or TV, or in our weekly ad, co-op ad, mailer, or internet site.
  • We will only issue one rain check, per day, per household for an item.
  • We will not issue rain checks for Publix, competitor’s, or manufacturer’s coupons.
